I’m confused by pipe sizes. How do they work?

Pipe sizes can be pretty confusing. That’s because sometimes people talk about the outside diameter (OD) while others talk about the inside diameter (ID). To overcome this confusion, the manufacturers introduced a sizing system that gives each size a name instead of a measurement. So pipes are given a ‘Nominal Bore’ size (NB). Here’s how it works – every NB size gives you only a rough idea of the inside measurement. It’s only rough because it depends on the wall thickness – it’s the OD that stays constant.
For example, pipe that was once called 1″ is now called 25NB. This size will always have an OD of 33.7mm, and comes in a range of different wall thicknesses (WT). If it has a ‘Medium’ WT (3.2mm), then the actual ID will be 33.7 – 3.2 – 3.2 = 27.3mm

Meet the Boss

If you’ve dropped in to see us at Ezimetal Raymond Terrace, there’s a good chance you’ve met this guy. Meet Warren “Woc” Lawrence. Yes, “Woc” – that’s what everyone calls him, and that’s what he calls himself.

Experience

After many years in the hardware game, Woc started working in the steel industry in 1998. He looked after a retail/trade outlet in Raymond Terrace for several years before finally taking the plunge and becoming the owner in 2007. Since then Ezimetal has added staff, moved into larger, purpose-built premises and expanded into various forms of fabrication and processing work. Today, it has grown into a business that not only supplies pipe, RHS, beams, mesh and roofing products, but now offers structural steel fabrication, sheet metal guillotining and folding and pipe threading services.

Dedicated

Often the first to arrive at 6am and the last to leave at the end of each day, Woc has the kind of dedication to his business that is hard to find. His customers know that he’ll go out of his way to supply the products his customers need. And in the little bit of spare time he has when he’s not working at Ezimetal, he’s working at home on the 25 acre property.

Family

Woc’s a family man who loves nothing better than to spend a relaxing Sunday with his wife Fiona, his daughter Erin and his son Billy, watching a local football team do their stuff. Erin and Billy are both key members of the Ezimetal Team, and Fiona shows her generosity by providing a hot lunch each week for the whole team!

Straight-forward

Honesty is important to Woc. He’d rather people be straight with him, and he makes sure he’s the same with them. In his own words, one of his pet hates is “people who tell me what I want to hear, not what’s going to happen.” Customers appreciate this approach because they like to know where they stand.Man wearing white color shirt with Ezimetal written on it.
